Three-year-old Brychan, from Bassingbourn, receives Little Troopers Medal for Bravery.
Three-year-old Brychan Peters has been awarded a Little Trooper of the Month medal for his bravery and positivity. When Brychan was one, he was diagnosed with bilateral spastic cerebral palsy, while the family were posted in Germany. Brychan’s Dad, Michael, is a Sergeant serving in the Royal Military Police.
Since Brychan’s diagnosis there has been a whirlwind of different appointments including physio, Occupational Therapy, Botox injections, Orthotics and Orthoptics. Mum says he takes it all in his stride and has some fantastic support from his brothers Gruff (8) and Blaidd (5).
The family moved back to the UK a year ago and Brychan didn’t let the move affect his positive attitude. Mum, Gabrielle Peters said in her nomination “Brychan’s got such a cheeky personality and doesn’t let anything bring him down. It didn’t even faze him when it meant meeting a whole new team of specialists! His therapists always comment on how much of a character he is!”
Gabrielle added that Michael’s (dad) work have always been so understanding and incredible. He was given so much time off when Brychan was born and has always been given time off even for last minute appointments. The fact they’ve been so supportive has made such a difference to the whole situation because we would have struggled otherwise juggling appointments with Gruff and Blaidd’s schedules.
Louise Fetigan, Founder of Little Troopers said, “Brychan is such a superstar. Going to hospital constantly is a lot for anyone, especially a child. We think to get through moving to a different country, going to a new hospital and getting used to a whole new team of specialists, with such a cheeky positive attitude is incredible. Brychan totally deserves our Little Trooper of the Month medal, we are so proud of him.”
Brychan received his own special Little Troopers medal, certificate and £100 Hobbycraft vouchers.
