Little Troopers honours brave and determined Alfie for resilience, kindness and positivity

Little Troopers is proud to announce Alfie as our April Little Trooper of the Month.

Alfie lives with Bronchiectasis, a long-term lung condition that requires daily medication and regular hospital treatment to help keep his lungs clear. Despite facing ongoing health challenges, frequent chest infections and periods away from school, Alfie continues to show incredible strength, determination and positivity every single day.

As a military child with a dad serving in the Royal Navy, Alfie also navigates the additional challenges that come with service life and long periods of separation. Last year was particularly difficult for the family while his dad was deployed on an eight-month world tour aboard HMS Prince of Wales. More recently, Alfie underwent another round of treatment in April, shortly before his dad deployed again.

Despite everything he faces, Alfie never lets his condition define him. His family describe him as resilient, kind and incredibly proud of his dad’s role in the Royal Navy. In fact, almost everything Alfie does, from his drawings and activities to school projects, proudly features the Royal Navy and life at sea.

Alfie loves being outdoors, spending time away in the family caravan and being with his friends at school. Although his health can sometimes impact his attendance, he remains enthusiastic about learning and even created a scrapbook with his teachers during his dad’s deployment last year to help stay connected to his experiences at sea.

Alongside managing his own health challenges, Alfie also shows remarkable kindness towards others. He recently helped put together gifts and supplies for children in hospital, wanting to help other poorly children facing difficult times.

At home, Alfie is also a caring and supportive big brother to his younger sister, regularly helping her with reading and writing.

His parents said:

“Alfie is a strong and resilient child. Being a military child can be hard and emotional when a parent is away but Alfie handles it with such grace and pride.

He doesn’t let his condition bring him down and truly believes he can achieve anything he puts his mind to. We are incredibly proud of him.”

Alfie’s courage, compassion and positive attitude shine through despite the challenges he faces, making him a truly deserving Little Trooper of the Month winner.

As our latest Little Trooper of the Month, Alfie will receive a Little Troopers medal, a £100 Hobbycraft gift voucher and his certificate.

Louise Fetigan MBE, founder of Little Troopers, said:

“Alfie is such an inspiring young boy. Despite managing a long-term health condition and the additional challenges of military life, he continues to approach life with positivity, kindness and determination.

His pride in his dad’s service, caring nature towards others and resilience through difficult times make him incredibly deserving of this recognition. Well done Alfie.”
