Little Troopers honours brave 12-year-old Alexis for resilience and positivity

Little Troopers is proud to announce Alexis, aged 12, as our February Little Trooper of the Month.

Alexis, known as Lexi, was recently diagnosed with scoliosis after her dad, who serves as a Flight Sergeant with the Royal Air Force, noticed a difference in her shoulder blade height. Since then, she has faced a series of medical appointments across both the UK and the Netherlands, where her family is currently based in Eindhoven.

As part of her treatment, Lexi must now wear a body brace for 23 hours a day to support and correct the development of her spine. Despite the physical discomfort and emotional challenges this brings, she has shown incredible strength and determination, already seeing positive improvements.

Previously a keen gymnast and runner, Lexi has adapted to her new routine with remarkable resilience. She continues to enjoy fashion, dancing and spending time with her friends, refusing to let her diagnosis define her or limit her outlook on life.

As a military child, Lexi has also experienced the unique challenges that come with service life. Alongside her sister Pippa, she has moved schools five times due to her parents’ military careers, each time leaving behind close friendships and bravely starting again. Through these changes, she has embraced new cultures, learned new languages and built new connections with confidence and positivity.

Lexi was nominated by her grandmother, who said:

“Lexi has been incredibly brave. Although wearing the brace can be upsetting and uncomfortable at times, she doesn’t let it stop her from living her life. She takes everything in her stride, whether it’s her diagnosis or moving schools so many times.

She is funny, kind and thoughtful, with a lovely sense of humour. She loves spending time with her dog Nala, taking her for runs and walks every day. We are all so very proud of her strength and the way she continues to face everything with such courage.”

Living with scoliosis and wearing a brace for most of the day presents daily challenges, but Lexi’s positive attitude and determination continue to shine through.

As our latest Little Trooper of the Month, Lexi will receive a Little Troopers medal, a £100 Hobbycraft gift voucher and her certificate.

Louise, founder of Little Troopers, said:

“What an inspiring young person Lexi is. Adapting to such a significant diagnosis with such strength and positivity is truly admirable.

Balancing medical challenges alongside the changes that come with military life is not easy, but Lexi shows incredible resilience every day. Well done Lexi, you should be very proud.”
