As the summer holidays come to an end, we wanted to shout about our free resources for teachers. We have worked with schools and education specialists to put together wealth of resources to save teachers time.
Louise, founder of our charity said, “School can be tricky for little troopers as they move a lot. My daughter had five different schools in five years, which was challenging for her and her teachers.
“We know that teachers have a million things to do, especially at the start of the year. To make their lives easier we have created lots of education resources and templates to help them support their little troopers from day one.”
Primary and secondary resources
Our Little Troopers at School website is divided into Primary and Secondary sections to make navigation easier. On there you will find:
- Wellbeing courses – We have developed two resource packs one for primary schools and a secondary school version. The comprehensive packs feature all the resources needed for the child-friendly, interactive course. The courses cover specific age-related subjects along with sessions on belonging, identity and mindfulness. Everything you need is ready to access now; teachers note, course materials and worksheets for the children.
- Primary Resource Pack (This is a paid for resource and can be found in our online shop)
- This pack has been planned, created and illustrated to explain more about military children within schools. There is a comprehensive information booklet, stories, circle time plans, lesson plans, resources for display boards and role play activities. There is a USB loaded with resources so that they can be printed whenever you need them.
- Virtual workshops for primary school children –The workshops use some of the Little Troopers at Schools resources to bring together military children and their teachers. Over two hours using craft, role play and quizzes the children can explore some of the challenges of military life. Both workshops are free to download and come with facilitator notes, activity sheets and certificates:
- The first workshop celebrates being a Little Trooper
- The second workshop focuses on mental health and wellbeing.
For our older little troopers
- Secondary School Resource Hub – A toolbox of free school resources available for you to browse, download and utilise. Packed with practical ideas, this brilliant set of Lesson plans and activity templates are perfect to get your students talking about military life.
- Forces Life Club – Over the years we have seen the benefit in bringing military children together. This is particularly useful for teenagers who tend to hide behind their phones. We have developed 16 sessions and an introductory video to help schools set up a Forces Life Club.
- SQUAD – Our podcast series features military teenagers talking about their experiences of growing up in the military community. Across eight episodes we speak to 15 teens who all have a different story to tell. TV & radio broadcaster and mental health ambassador, Katie Thistleton and rugby star, Thom Smith present the show. Thom’s Dad still serves in the Royal Air Force. Each episode comes with an activity sheet created by an educational psychologist to help teachers use the podcasts in school.

Louise adds, “I hope you find lots to help our military children in our free resources for teachers. We love to see how schools use our materials, so please do share on our social media channels.”
