One year after securing vital funding for our Therapy program, we are looking back at the incredible milestones we have reached. In the last six months we have received 133 referrals and 65 children have started their 121 sessions.
The funding from the National lottery was to deliver a three-year program offering 121 and group therapy sessions. The therapy program has been designed uniquely for military life. It offers tailored, face-to-face therapy for children who are struggling with challenges directly connected to having a serving parent. It focuses on the distinct pressures military children face.
Louise, our charity founder, said, “Following the funding announcement we spent six months finding the perfect therapy partner and setting up the program. Following the launch in December we have been delivering support in the UK and Cyprus.”
Group sessions
In addition to the 121 support, we also offer group sessions. Four groups have already signed up and their sessions are underway. The group programme provides military-connected children with a safe, engaging space to connect with others, share experiences and explore topics linked to military life.
Each programme consists of three in-person sessions delivered to the same group of 8–10 military children across a period of time. Applications can be made for Primary or Secondary age groups.
Sessions would be delivered by a qualified Broad Horizons therapist. They can visit youth clubs, cadet units, community centres, lunchtime/after-school clubs or other community venues to run the workshops.

Louise adds, “The Little Troopers Therapy Programme is a very special initiative that I am incredibly proud to deliver. It truly is making a difference to the lives of military children who need it most.”
