Find out what’s planned for Christmas Smiles 2022

This week sees the launch of our 2022 Christmas Smiles campaign. The campaigns aim is to support our little troopers who have a parent deployed over the festive holiday. We’ve organised a long list of free festive activities for families over the next month. They include cinema screenings of Arthur Christmas, Elf workshops, a Secret Santa show and an online Christmas Baking session. Also, we have once again partnered with the Build-a-Bear Foundation to distribute 2,200 free teddy bears to military families.

Louise, founder of our charity: “We know it’s especially hard to have a parent deployed at this time of year. That is why our Christmas Smiles has always been such a special initiative at Little Troopers. Once again, we’ve organised as many things as we can to bring a smile to the faces of military children. I hope families book on to the events and get involved, we can’t wait to see your photos.”

4th December: Free cinema screening of Arthur Christmas

On Sunday 4th December, Little Troopers has organised free cinema screenings of Arthur Christmas at the following ODEON locations: Andover, Leeds, Hereford, Chatham and Lincoln. To have a chance of getting one of the 465 free tickets, you need to sign-up to our mailing list. Tickets will be released on 24th November.

11th December: Free Elf Workshops

This special online Elf workshop will be run for small groups of children under the age of ten. You can book a timeslot, throughout the day, to meet ‘Twinkletoes’ the spritely elf who will spread some festive cheer. There’ll be singing, dancing and games – younger little troopers will love being the centre of attention in this interactive session. There will be four 45 minute sessions for up to 15 families per session. You can book now here.

17th December: Christmas Bake

Celebrate the start of the school holidays by joining us for an online Christmas Smiles baking event. You will be sent a list of yummy ingredients in advance and everyone is encouraged to bake-a-long together. Cameras on – we want to see your chocolate faces!

2,200 free Build-A-Bear teddies

We are delighted to be partnering with the Build-A-Bear Foundation for a third year. This year we’ll distribute 2,200 free teddy bears to military children who have a loved one deployed overseas this Christmas. We have already arranged to deliver bears to more than 40 locations across the UK where Royal Navy, British Army and Royal Air Force service personnel are either already deployed or deploying imminently.

We will also be individually posting out 200 individual bears to little troopers who have a parent deployed at Christmas. Details about how to apply will be released on 1st December and you must be signed up to our mailing list to receive the details.

Throughout December: Secret Santa Show

Your EYFS can have their very own magical Christmas show experience with Search For Santa. Written specifically for 2-5 year olds, we take you on a magical adventure in Nursery Rhyme Land to find Santa. Who will we meet along the way this year?

This half hour show is full of nursery rhymes, action songs and Christmas favourites and is a gentle introduction to live theatre. Sign-up to the Little Troopers newsletter to receive the details.

Giveaways

To bring extra Christmas cheer, we’ll also be running weekly giveaways on our Facebook and Instagram pages throughout December. Keep an eye out for a chance to win!

Christmas extras

If that wasn’t enough, we have lots of Christmas-themed Crafty Little Troopers sheets that families can download to keep them busy in the lead up to the big day.
