Get your teacher on board!

As the holidays end, thousands of military children are getting ready for school and we would love you to get your teacher on board. We have been developing resources for schools for nearly ten years and lots are free and ready to use now.

Louise, our charity founder said, “As a parent, you are your child’s best advocate. Lots of schools want to support service children but time is limited and many are not sure where to start. We would love you to send your child’s new teacher the Little Trooper at school link, so they can start using our free, ready-made resources.”

Great for schools

We have so much online to help support military children practically and emotionally in Primary and Secondary schools:

  • Forces Life Club is a tailored club for military children at Primary schools. Since its launch eight months ago, 80 schools have already signed up. Your school can order a launch pack and find over 20 club sessions that can be downloaded for free.
  • Wellbeing courses – We have developed two resource packs, one for primary schools and a secondary school Everything you need is ready to access now; teachers notes, course materials and worksheets for the children.
  • Primary Resource Pack – This pack has been planned, created and illustrated to explain more about military children within schools. It gives schools lots of practical ways to support and ensure the military are represented in your education setting.
  • Virtual workshops for primary school children – Our workshops are hosted by children’s presenters and are run in an ‘as live’ scenario. The presenters guide you and the children through fun activities that use some of the Little Troopers at Schools resources.
  • Secondary School Resource Hub – it can be hard to get teenagers to open up emotionally, so we have developed a hub packed with practical ideas to help get them talking. In our toolbox of free resources, you will find Lesson plans, activity templates and other resources, including our SQUAD podcast series.
Supporting little troopers at home

The rush of a move, leaving friends and starting a new school can be overwhelming. We also have lots to help you and your little troopers at home:

  • Moving home/ school therapy video: This video can be watched with your children. There are lots of activities to help you and bring them comfort when they are super nervous.
  • X-Ray of Feelings: These creative picture sheets are perfect for younger military children. They can help you open up a conversation about your child’s new school anxieties.
  • Transition Chit: These are perfect to fill out and give them to the teacher. They explain your child’s background. There is also a separation Chit, to tell teachers if a parent is facing a long deployment away from home.
  • Moving School Checklist: This is a handy guide featuring all the essential questions you need answered in one place.

Louise, added, “My daughter had five different schools in five years, so I was keen to make sure we had resources that helped our little troopers at school and at home. I hope that some of these are useful. We truly appreciate your help in spreading the word.”
