Today is the start of the Month of the Military Child

We love to celebrate our military children all year round, but as April is the official month of the military child, Little Troopers likes to make it extra special. We have lots planned and would love you to join us.

This weekend we will kick off the month with our Easter Party. Our party will take place online on Saturday 3rd April 2021 at 2pm. The live one-hour interactive party can be streamed on any device and will be packed with magic, storytelling, songs, games and comedy for children of all ages to take part in. The show will be performed by Playhouse Parties who also hosted Little Troopers’ hugely popular virtual pantomime at the end of last year. You can read more about the party here and book your ticket using this link

Following the success of our Bake Along with Beca event during Fundraise February we have organised another special event to cook along with the Bake Off star. The next Bake Along with Beca will take place on the 8th April at 3pm, watch our social media pages for more information.

In addition to the party and Bake Along, we will have some weekly giveaways and a downloadable activity pack, along with a special X-ray of feelings image. If you haven’t seen our x-ray of feelings images yet you can check them out here.

This year we have also bought out a new version of our popular dandelion T-shirt. A very special new grey T-shirt with the dandelion and ‘I’m a little trooper’ on the back is available now. Did you know the official flower of the military child is the dandelion because it’s seeds are blown far and wide by the wind but it will always plant roots and blossom wherever it lands?

The dandelion theme is continued in some special Crafty Little Trooper activities including some dandelion biscuits and gorgeous posters to colour in and display. You can find those activities here.

Dandelions are beautiful but we also wanted to find something that military children could start growing this month to remind them how special they are through the year. We know that space can be limited in military accommodation so we have chosen Sunflower seeds that can be planted in a pot and nurtured. We have 150 Sunflower seed cards to send to special little troopers around the world who can watch as their sunflowers magically unfurl and blossom in July and August. We would love to see your pictures on social media using the hashtag #LittleTroopersSunflowers.

Finally, each week we will be posting a special little trooper interview. We will be talking to little troopers of all ages to hear about their experiences along with tips for coping.

We are so excited and can’t wait to get started. We have created a special Month of Military Child website page to keep you updated.

You can find it here.
