Sharing the love with Little Troopers Treasures

Last month, four families became the proud owners of a new Tablet as part of the charity’s September Stories campaign. We gave away a Tablet each week to allow even more families to sign up to the Little Troopers Treasures App.

The September Stories campaign was created to promote the charity’s App and alongside the giveaways, we also launched a competition for a military child to become an author.

The Little Troopers Treasures App helps military children stay connected to their parents during periods of separation. Through the App, the serving person can choose a book and record a video. As the video plays the pages turn in synchronisation with their allowing the children to see the story and hear their parents voice.  Since its launch more than 8,000 stories have been recorded and shared by families.

Louise, founder of the charity said, “The photos that we receive of children watching their parents read stories on the App are some of my favourites. Even though it was originally designed for bedtime, many families tell us that the story videos provide comfort and a connection to Mum or Dad throughout the day.”

One of our first Tablet winners was Angus. Angus’s Dad said: “It will really make a difference when I am deployed. Knowing my son will still be able to listen to stories whilst I am away makes me very happy! Angus was diagnosed with Autism at an early age and we have found that the bedtime routine of a story before bed helps him settle down. So, when I am away, having him being able to hear my voice reading stories will help him and his Mum no end.”

The second winners are a family who have a loved one deployed at the moment: “Thank you so much for our tablet! We cannot wait for daddy to come home for RnR so he can set up some stories on your App (and some secret messages). We are sharing and having lots of fun! Lots of love Poppy, Charlie & Louie.”

The charity received some lovely stories as part of its story competition. The winner, who will have their story illustrated and published on the app, will be announced in the next few weeks – watch this space.
