We are sad to announce that we have made a difficult decision to retire our Little Troopers Treasures app. The story-telling app was launched six years ago this week, and is an initiative that has been used and loved by hundreds of military families from all three services.
Louise, our charity founder, explains “We commissioned a third-party app developer to create and manage the app. Unfortunately, the fees we are charged to maintain and regularly update the app have dramatically increased overtime. They have now become unsustainable for our small charity, requiring thousands of pounds. The number of families using the app has also been steadily decreasing over time. We have found that families are turning to other Little Troopers resources and initiatives during periods of separation.”
Supporting you through deployment
While we loved our app, we are also super proud of the other resources we have available. If you are currently experiencing deployment and separation, here are some of the free resources that we have available for you to use at home:
- Little Troopers All Together deployment club
-
- 14-17 July 2023, residential weekend for teenagers in Plymouth
- August 2023, Adventure day for 7-13 yr olds (information will be shared in our next newsletter)
- September onwards, online workshops for under 10s
- X-Ray of Feelings illustrations and worksheets
- Little Troopers Treasures downloadable resources including timesheets, separation diaries, memory box templates and a weekly planner
- Affirmation Cards
- Birthday Card scheme
- Little Troopers Gazette
- Mindfulness Pack
- Crafty Little Troopers
- Little Troopers certificates
- Recommended reads
We also still have our Little Troopers Separation Pack, Send a Hug Kit, Postcard Packs and Deployment Survival Cards.
For schools, we have our Little Troopers at Schools programme with resources available for both primary and secondary schools.
We are so sorry
Louise, continues “We want to apologise if you have been trying to access the app recently. It only came to our attention recently that a technical error suddenly prevented users from logging in. This will have been especially frustrating for families who are currently separated and are trying to use the app to keep in touch. We also understand the disappointment that families who use the app on a regular basis will feel. We are sorry that we were not able to provide more notice of the retirement.”
“Please be reassured that we are continuing to invest in lots of other initiatives, projects and resources to support your children at home and in school. Our commitment to use the funds that are raised in the best way continues. We strive to create projects that benefit as many military children as we can, whenever they need it and wherever they are in the world.
Please do get in touch if you have any questions about the app.
