More incredible fundraisers

This week, we’re shouting from the rooftops to thank even more incredible fundraisers! We absolutely love celebrating how amazing you are. The money raised helps us support even more little troopers through our work. Over the last couple of months, our lovely fundraisers, big and small, have taken on some brilliant challenges.

Lillyaana love to read

7 year old Lillyaana, completed a read-a-thon “book tower” fundraising challenge during April and has raised a total of £180!

Lillyaana’s Mum told us: “In celebration of month of the military child, Lillyaana has read 196 books over 25 days in April to make a book tower standing as tall as herself at 131cm in height. Lillyaana read multiple books at a time before, during and after school and in the car when travelling. She even read bedtime stories to her baby sister to complete her challenge.”

An Inflatable event

A team of staff from The Armed Forces Network at DCHS and DHCFT NHS Trusts, completed the Derby Inflatable 5k. The team, who all wore yellow in support of our dandelions, have raised nearly £700!

Hayley and Melanie are both Veterans and felt April was the perfect month to raise awareness and support for Military Children.

Side by side, step by step

Bella (age 14) and Sofia (age 11) are aiming to travel 50km within 5 weeks. Bella will run whilst Sofia cycles alongside.

They told us, “We are sisters who enjoy exercising together. We picked little troopers because, as children in a military family, we understand the difficulties of separation from parents and moving around a lot. We decided we wanted to help other children in similar situations as we understand the feeling.”

Bella and Sofia, who have also made their own t-shirts for the challenge, have raised over £350 so far! You can still sponsor them here.

Paul is still running

Paul Watson, is three races down (out of 5!) in his ultra-marathon challenge, the latest was across the Pennines. Paul has raised over £1,000 for us already and still has two incredible runs to go.

When talking about why he chose our charity, he said,  “Military children are proud. They’re resourceful. They adapt quickly, take change in their stride, and often grow up wise beyond their years. But they also carry a lot, time apart from parents, missed birthdays, constant moves, school transitions, and the weight of worry. That’s why I’m running these ultras to raise money for the Reconnection Programme, a beautiful initiative that gives families a chance to stop, breathe, and just be together.”

Please sponsor Paul now.

Charity of the Year

We have been chosen as the Charity of the Year for the WO and SRs Mess on the HMS Prince of Wales, our Nations Flagship Aircraft Carrier. Our Trustee Warrant Officer Stuart More, who is serving on board said “ I’m so happy that the team chose this charity and am excited to start organising fundraising events. My own children and others onboard are supported by Little Troopers. I know how much the money we raise will make a difference.”
