We’re calling on all our military families to lace up their trainers and join us in Portsmouth for our Dandelion Dash. The fundraising runs will be part of our celebration day in support of military children.
The Dandelion Dash and Dandelion Toddle headline our Month of the Military Child activities this year and we can’t wait! Taking place on April 12th at HMS Temeraire in Portsmouth, your little ones can take part in the 3km or 1km runs. We are so excited to announce that The Chelsea Pensioners will be starting the little troopers off on their challenge.
Louise, founder of our charity said, “This is the third family fun run event that we’ve held. I love that we get to meet so many little troopers and that we all get to celebrate, how amazing our children are, together.”
There will be plenty to do while the children are limbering up or once they’ve finished. Throughout the morning there will be, Punch and Judy shows, Circus Skills Workshops, Face Painting, the chance to get a Glitter Dandelion Tattoo and more. For refreshments, there’ll also be food stalls and a coffee van.
There is a small fee for the Dandelion Dash and Toddle. Everyone taking part will receive a medal and certificate. The Celebration event is open to everyone. If you want to come, but haven’t registered to run, you need to book a free ticket. All the proceeds from entry fees and sponsorship for the Dash and toddle will help us continue our work.
You can find out more about the event and register here.
Our Dandelion Dash and Celebration event is just one of several events we have planned in April:
Celebrating All Together
The month will kick off on the 1st April with a special online workshop with ZooLab. A Ranger will introduce you to a menagerie of mammals, insects, amphibians and arachnids! You can book your place right now. Later in the month ArtBase are going to guide our little troopers through drawing a cute bunny eating a dandelion! Booking for this workshop is also open, click here.
Dandelion Day
Whether you are in the military community or not, you can support little troopers. On 15th April we’re inviting everyone to show little troopers how special they are by wearing something yellow in support. To help add colour we have a yellow dandelion T-shirt and brand-new dandelion socks for sale in our online shop.
Intergenerational event at Royal Hospital Chelsea
On Saturday 25th April 2026, we’re joining up with the Royal Hospital Chelsea to host a special intergenerational event. On this day, a small group of military children along with a parent will get to meet some of the iconic Chelsea Pensioners. The event will include a guided tour of the Royal Hospital Chelsea, lunch and a dandelion-themed arts and crafts session. To register your interest in attending please complete this form.
Louise adds, “We can’t wait to see you in person or online soon.”
