We want to say a big thank you to the Chetwynd Little Troopers Nursery & Pre-School for their donation of £2,000 for our Little Troopers Treasures app. The nursery in Nottingham recently closed down and with the approval of their Trustees they have made the donation to help us continue our work with young military children.
The nursery which shared its name with our charity took the tough decision to close down, as the demographic of camp had changed significantly and no longer needed a dedicated nursery. Once they had settled all of the business, they had funds left and wanted to make donations to other organisations who also support military children and their families.
Louise, founder of the charity said “We are overwhelmed by the kindness of the Trustees and so pleased to receive the funds from the nursery that shares our name. Little Troopers Treasures is such an important part of our work as it allows Mum or Dad to still be part of the bedtime routine when they are deployed. It brings great comfort, especially for the youngest little troopers who don’t really understand why Mummy or Daddy isn’t there.
Nicky West, Trustee of the nursery said, “We are so pleased that we have been able to help Little Troopers. As military families ourselves, we experience first hand how difficult juggling family and military life can be. Yes, we have the most amazing and resilient little troopers, but that doesn’t mean it’s easy for them. The initiatives that Louise and the team at Little Troopers organise, make such a huge difference to the lives that they touch.”
Little Troopers Treasures is a free, easy to use app that can make story time precious every day. Serving parents can choose a book for their child and record a video reading it. When the videos are watched back the pages turn like magic.
