This week we would just like to say thank you to all of the regiments who support us. Just over half of all Armed Forces personnel have children. Trips away from home are hard and we are humbled that so many want to support us.
Louise, founder of our charity said, “Little Troopers began when my husband was in Afghanistan and my daughter was struggling. Over the last ten years I have developed the charity to provide support to loved ones at home. Many of our families use our separation pack, therapy resources and benefit from our work with schools. It is lovely to see that the difference our work makes and that it means so much to those serving that they want to fundraise and give something back.”
Recent fundraisers have included:
- The Officers and Soldiers from the 5th Regiment RA who are on deployment in Cyprus organised a 24 Hour HYROX challenge. Working throughout the day and night, teams smashed out the miles, lunges, ERGs and burpees to raise over £1,500 for us.
- Charlie Lyon, challenged herself to run 100km over the month of September, whilst on deployment. This is a hard enough challenge for anyone but Charlie ran 3.3km every day for 30 days in 47 degree heat!Charlie raised an amazing £540!
- Warrant Officer Class 2 Gemma Fulton organised a 24 hour cycling event. There were 5 teams of 10, 50 riders altogether, each team consisted of a Squadron within 16 Signal Regiment. The event itself was tough for the riders but with the determination and team work they completed the 24hr event with high morale. The total overall miles covered was 2467.52 and they raised £1,130 which is being spilt between ourselves and a little girl who received a cancer diagnosis at the age of five.
- The Recce Squadron of the Royal Dragoon Guards have organised a cycling challenge travelling from Tapa to Warminster to York to Enniskillen. They will be cycling hundreds of miles to raise money for our charity and the Alzheimer’s Society. They have raised £2,930 so far and you can still donate here.
