A month to celebrate all our dandelions
April is the international month of the military child and each year we love taking this time to celebrate all of the little troopers out there!
Did you know the official flower of the military child is the dandelion because it’s seeds are blown far and wide by the wind but it will always plant roots and blossom wherever it lands. That’s why we’ve got lots of dandelion themed activities to keep little troopers busy throughout April.
April 2025 we have lots of resources for you to celebrate military children ~at home or at school
April is packed full of events, online workshops and downloadable activities, so wherever you live, you can get involved in the celebrations with your little troopers! We also have a dedicated Month of the Military Child Schools Pack so that schools in the UK and overseas can join in and shine a light on their forces children this April.
Dandelion Day – 4 April 2025
We have named Friday 4 April 2025 as Dandelion Day 2025 and we invite you to join us. You and your military children might like to wear a yellow item to work and school such as socks or a hair scrunchie.
Alternatively, if you are a school and run a Little Troopers club and children have Little Troopers hoodies or t-shirts, then you might ask them to come in wearing these.
However you mark the day, we’d love to hear about it and see your photos so do keep in touch by emailing [email protected] or tagging us on social media.
At School activities
Little Troopers has created a special Military Child school pack.
Includes; Assembly planners, activities, a certificate template, mindful colouring and more.
At Home activities
Download our free activities to celebrate the Month of the Military Child. Choose from dandelion-themed art, recipes, colouring-in sheets and dandelion playdough, all celebrating what it means to be a military child.
Our gift to military children
As a special gift, Little Troopers will be giving away 100 copies of our brand new story book Dandelions.

Tidworth 10K & Family Fun Run 13th April 2025
We’re calling on runners and families alike to lace up their trainers and join us at our Tidworth 10K and fun run in support of military children.
The event is being held on Sunday 13th April at Tidworth Oval running track as part of our celebrations to mark April Month of the Military Child.
