We are so excited to announce a new partner in our Christmas Smiles Campaign. This year we are partnering with ODEON Cinemas to host five free cinema screenings for forces families this December. On Saturday 11th December Military families in Colchester, Harrogate, Oxford, Salisbury and Port Solent will be coming together to watch an exclusive Little Troopers screening of the much-loved Christmas film, The Polar Express.
Louise, founder of our charity, comments: “Our annual Christmas Smiles campaign is all about bringing smiles to military children at this time of year. We can’t think of a better way to get the children excited for Christmas than watching a festive film together! We know that military children love to meet others like them and we want to say a huge thank you to ODEON for enabling us to offer these free screenings to military families. We hope that everyone who goes has a fantastic time.”
The tickets* for this event flew out the door, but the charity will be keeping a waiting list, which you can join here. Louise adds, “We had over 450 tickets for these screenings and are totally shocked at the speed that our families signed up. We are encouraging families to join the waiting list and are asking all families who received tickets to let us know as soon as possible so we can reallocate the tickets.”
The ODEON partnership is just one of many ways that our charity is supporting military children as part of our Christmas Smiles campaign this year:
- We have also partnered with the Build-A-Bear Foundation to distribute 2,000 teddy bears to military families who are separated due to deployment.
- There will also be a give-away of 100 copies of a Christmas story written by real-life little trooper, 8-year-old Darcy Thorp. Darcy’s story, ‘Evie’s Christmas Smiles’ will be available soon to read on the Little Troopers Treasures free story-recording app, available on tablet devices.
Keep an eye on our social media channels for all our Christmas Smiles news.
* Tickets are exclusively for serving families (both regular and reserve) from all three services.
