Host a Get Cakey this Summer

This summer holiday, we’re asking our supporters to host a Get Cakey event. We’ve teamed up with six celebrities to ‘Get Cakey’ to raise funds for our vital plans supporting military children.

Louise, founder of the charity, said “I love baking and wanted to create a simple event that everyone can take part in. A Get Cakey event is the perfect way to bring have fun and eat nice food. Six weeks is a long time away from school friends, so why not get baking and invite everyone to pop along.”

If you are looking for cooking inspiration take a look at our celebrity friends cookbook. There is a delicious Chocolate Orange Cake from Dame Joanna Lumley. Levison Wood sent a healthy Vegan Trail Mix and Dame Kelly Holmes shared a recipe for Figgy Seeded Banana Bread. For some fun there are Magical Marshmallow Popcorn bites from Richard Jones. Harry Hill and Andy McNab have also sent recipes for the Get Cakey pack.

Louise adds, “Anyone and everyone is invited to run a cake sale from work, summer camp, or even from home. In past years families have run incredibly successful cake sales right from their driveway, especially if they live on the patch.”

Last summer little trooper Ellie baked lots of cakes and raised an amazing £51.00! More recently she held a second event making her very own Welsh cakes and raised another £30!

If you want to join Ellie, we have lots of resources online to help with your cake sale. Budding bakers can download an organiser pack, colour-in bunting, menu page, recipes and a poster template. You can also order a Get Cakey pack to come in the post, which includes stickers, badges and chefs hats to decorate.
