Tracie and Steve are taking on a Marathon challenge

Two fantastic Little Troopers’ supporters are taking on the ultimate running challenge at the weekend to raise money for our charity.  Tracie Pickett and Steve Prest will be running the London Marathon on Sunday.

Steve said “I am running the London Marathon as a personal challenge but am keen to use the opportunity to support Little Troopers. They are a (very) small charity that do great work with Armed Forces’ families, especially helping children cope with the challenges of separation that Service life entails.”

Tracie will be running for two charities Little Hearts Matter and Little Troopers. Explaining why she chose our charity she said,“As a serving Mum and Military wife this charity really hit home with me. I’ve been lucky, so far, to not have to deploy whilst being a Mum, although I have been on courses since, my longest being 10 wks…there is nothing like missing your children. The hardest thing I’ve experienced was watching William miss Jay whilst he was deployed in 2015, he was only 1 and wasn’t speaking; one morning I walked into his room and found him stood sucking his thumb looking at a photo of him and his Daddy, I was so overwhelmed with sadness for him. He didn’t understand where he had gone, how do you begin to tell someone so young.

Yes, we signed up for it, yes we could leave but if all serving parents left, the British Forces wouldn’t be what they are now! There are thousands of military children in all 3 services, Little Troopers supports them all.”

Louise Fetigan founder of the charity added “We are so grateful to Steve and Tracie for choosing our charity. I have run 10k around London and that was hard enough, they have my full admiration for taking on the Marathon! As a small charity this support will make a massive difference and hopefully we’ll be able to spot their Little Troopers running vests on the TV.”
