Support for military families based in Cyprus

Today, we are launching an extended project of the Little Troopers Therapy program to support military families based in Cyprus. This emergency package will start on the 16th March 2026.

Louise said, “As a charity supporting children with one or both parents serving in the British Armed Forces, it is important that we are always there. Whatever the circumstances we aim to support the immediate needs of military children.

I founded this charity 15 years ago when I was in desperate need of support myself. I made a promise then to always listen to the needs of military families and respond in a compassionate, practical way that truly helps.”

Over the next two to three weeks, we will be delivering three sets of online support sessions:

  • Two group sessions for parents of military children
  • One to one consultation for parents
  • An online session for education professionals and community workers based in Cyprus

Please read on if this applies to your family and may be helpful. Links to the application forms are provided below. Delivery will start w/c 16th March and dates and times will be sent to registered families.

Online support sessions

Session 1 will focus on helping parents and carers understand how stress can affect both adults and children during difficult and frightening situations. It will cover simple, practical strategies to help manage stress and maintain a sense of routine.

Session 2 will focus on helping parents and carers support children who may be feeling frightened, worried or uncertain. It will cover simple, practical, age-appropriate strategies for talking to children about difficult events. It will also cover responding to distress and supporting them through reassurance, routine and simple coping techniques.

Both sessions need to be attended to gain maximum impact from the programme. A resource pack will follow each session to complement the content delivered. You can register for these sessions here.

One to one Consultation sessions

These 30-minute online consultations will provide brief, practical guidance on a specific issue or concern regarding the situation in Cyprus and its impact on your family.

Please note that one-to-one consultation slots are limited. To find out more information and register, click here.

Educators and Community Support session

Online support session for educators and community workers supporting military children currently based in Cyprus. The programme provides practical, stabilising strategies that adults can use immediately within classrooms and group environments to promote emotional safety, regulation, and resilience.

You can register for this session here.

In our thoughts

Louise, adds “We have had several calls and emails from parents in Cyprus and over the past week we have worked hard to bring together this emergency package. This is the first package after which we will reassess. You are all in my thoughts and I truly hope this support goes some way towards making a small difference.”
