Over 300 attend annual Summer Camp 2017

Over 300 people from the Little Troopers community came together for a special British Armed Forces family reconnection camp in Pirbright on the 1st & 2nd July.

The military families visiting the Pirbright Base got to enjoy a whole weekend of activities, which included Woodland Cookery with the Food Services Wing, Field craft with the Household Cavalry, Orienteering set up by Army Orienteering, Climbing Wall, Farm animals,  Survival skills, Circus skills, dance workshops and much more, as well as a full evening of entertainment on the Saturday night.

Founder and Operations Manager at Little troopers Louise Fetigan said: “It was so brilliant to see families from all three services come together this weekend. While there isn’t the obvious fear associated with a deployment to a warzone at the moment, time apart from the family is still happening over and over again and still has many effects on both the children and their parents. This weekend brings them back together or helps to build special memories for them to treasure when they’re away.”

Louise added “As a charity our support is growing to meet the needs of the children with parents serving. We rely on voluntary support and are so grateful to the staff at Army Training Centre Pirbright.  They are always so welcoming and helpful to us.”

After the weekend one parent said: “This weekend was our first ever Little Troopers camp and we have all loved it, it was amazing and so much happening; my kids had a fantastic time. Thank you so much for everything you all did over the weekend it was appreciated more than I could ever tell you x”

Another added “A huge thank you for what has been an amazing weekend & just what our family needed xx”
