Becky Thompson from Tidworth has embarked on a Marathon challenge to raise funds for Little Troopers, a charity that has provided support for her children and thousands of others across the world. On the 24th April 2016 Becky lined with almost 40,000 others to complete the London Marathon, on behalf of Little Troopers.
Little Troopers is a charity that provides support to children with a parent serving in the UK Forces. Becky’s husband serves with the Royal Engineers and has been deployed five times since their children Alfie (9) and Oscar (6) have been born, including one Christmas.
Becky said, “I have always had an ambition to run in the London Marathon and when I got a place in the ballot this year I knew that I had to run it for Little Troopers. Little Troopers is an amazing tri services charity that supports the children of serving personnel both when their parents are at home and deployed. We have had some fantastic summers at their summer camps and I can’t think of a better way to give back to a charity that means so much to us as a family.”
After the event Becky adds “The whole experience was completely overwhelming, no matter how many people tell you about the amazing crowd support and how important it is to have your name on your vest, you cannot imagine what it is going to be like until you are there. I want to thank everyone for your amazing support and sponsorship over the last few weeks and know just how much good it can do for Little Troopers”
Becky has smashed her £500 target by raising £938 so far, you can still support her by visiting https://mydonate.bt.com/fundraisers/beckythomps
