MBE Presentation starts off a month of recognition: This week our Founder Louise received her MBE in an investiture ceremony at Windsor Castle hosted by The Princess Royal. The timing of the ceremony was perfect as it came at the beginning of the Month of the Military Child. During the month of April, we celebrate and recognise our little troopers and Louise is their biggest champion.
Fifteen years ago, Louise founded our charity after seeing her own daughter struggle with the challenges of military life. As a British Army veteran, she understood first-hand the pressures faced by military families and the lack of support available.
Today, we support thousands of military children every day through a range of programmes and initiatives. We work to ensure their unique experiences are recognised, supported and most importantly celebrated.
Bryley Tautz who sent in a letter to support the MBE application said, “I believe Louise to be a crucial link between the UK Armed Services and the outside community and serving families. While the UK Armed Services loyally serve the King and country, Louise loyally serves more than 100,000 children who have parents serving in the British Armed Forces. She is their voice, their champion and a Guardian Angel that tirelessly fights and supports to make sure that all Service Children are supported, seen and heard.”
On Tuesday, Louise spent the day with her family and was joined by friends in the evening to celebrate. She said, “It was such a special day and I feel so honoured to have been recognised. I was so grateful to be able to share it with my gorgeous gang who deserve this just as much as me. They have been a fantastic support network over the years.”
Month of the Military Child plans
Louise added, “This recognition has given me such a boost and I love that it kicked started us off into the Month of the Military Child. We have so much planned for the next few weeks; online workshops, our Dandelion dash and family celebration event.”
The big event of the month is our Dandelion fun runs and family celebration event. Taking place on the 12thApril at HMS Temeraire in Portsmouth we’re hosting a massive celebration day. There will be a 3km Dandelion Dash for older children and a 1km Dandelion Toddle for the little legs. Every child who runs gets a medal and certificate….so let’s fill the track to celebrate our amazing military children. But it’s not just about the running! Stay for the Circus Skills Workshops, Punch & Judy Shows, Crazy Mini Golf, Glitter Dandelion Tattoos & Crafts and more!
