Funding for our Therapy Programme

We are so excited to announce that we have received funding for our Therapy Programme. The National Lottery has awarded us a grant of £326,000 for a three-year project.

A previous smaller grant from The National Lottery funded a two-year project to launch the Therapy Programme. The initial two-year phase of the project concluded end of 2024. This new grant means we can now grow the programme and reach many more military children, delivering the support that is so needed.

Louise, founder of our charity said, “This particular project means a lot to me for a few reasons. The first is that my daughter needed this support and never got it because it didn’t exist. The second reason it’s so special was because my brother had been fundamental in us receiving the initial grant from The National Lottery. My brother sadly died quite suddenly on 26th March 2023. I received the phone call to say we had been successful for this grant on 26th March 2025….exactly two years since he died.”

The programme will deliver one-to-one Therapy sessions and group support. It will be tailored to military children’s experiences and challenges. The team will be putting everything in place to deliver the support in the next six months. The aim is to launch/ open referrals for the second phase of the project at the end of this year.

Louise adds, “A huge thank you to The National Lottery for believing in our project and understanding the need. The funding will help us deliver a robust, country wide provision. We can’t wait to get going with this next phase of this worthwhile project.”

Therapy support

If your children need some therapeutical support over the next few months, we have several resources to help:

  • In our Little Troopers Therapy section you will find three therapy videos to watch. They can help with deployment, moving home/ school and nurturing resilience You can find the videos here (scroll down the page).
  • We have a whole range of x-ray of feelings These pictures can help you chat through with your child how they are feeling. Helping them to understand that what they are feeling is ok. There is also an activity sheet that has been created by an educational psychologist to help.
  • In our Little Troopers Treasures section you will find lots of resources to help your family during times apart. You can download separation diaries, a time difference sheet and our X-Ray of Feelings for parent going away

Louise finishes by saying, “I know Mark is rooting for me and everyone at Little Troopers from up there. We did it and he has truly been part of that. Take a look at his great illustration of the project to come…”
