This month we are calling out to aspiring Journalists. We want children from the British Armed Forces community to send us stories for our Little Troopers Gazette. We’re working on the next edition of our unique newspaper and want to include lots of your articles.
Louise, founder of the charity said, “At Little Troopers we love to let our military children shine. Our newspaper gets sent to hundreds of families, schools and other organisations that have contact with military children. We love the fact that our little troopers are part of its production. If your child aspires to be a published journalist send us your story over the next couple of weeks.”
Our Little Troopers Gazette is a place where young people can come together to share their experiences of military life in print. Issy Rowberry did just this, and her article was recently featured. She said, “I wrote an article last year about my trip to Plymouth with Little Troopers. It was very flattering to be asked and nice to relive the experience by writing about it. Seeing my article in print was really exciting and I felt proud to share it with my family and friends. I really hope that other military children would have read the article and want to try out one of the trips (and maybe even write an article of their own!).”
Help with your writing
To get involved and be in with a chance of featuring in the newspaper, visit the Little Troopers website. You can choose from topics including ‘My Military Life’, ‘What My Parent Does’, ‘My School’ and ‘Where I Live’. We’re also looking for reporters aged 8+ to interview local military personnel, write sports reports and explore military history events.
Louise adds, “It is super easy to write an article. Each topic has a template or downloadable content guide on our Little Troopers Gazette page. The deadline for this issue is the 8th August 2025.”
