The Little Troopers Blog

New Book Giveaway!

We’ve launched a new book giveaway to celebrate the Month of the Military Child. We’re giving away 100 copies of our brand new book Dandelions this month and have lots of other activities planned.

Louise, Founder of our charity, said, “We love telling the world how amazing military children are and this month we especially want them to feel recognised, included and celebrated! The book giveaway is just the start of our celebrations. We have in-person events coming up, online workshops and some beautiful dandelion craft activities for you to do at home.”

Our new book Dandelions, written by our resident author Donna David, is very special. It follows the story of a military child who’s worried about moving home and anxious about his Dad ‘weekending’ at their new posting. The book brings to life the reasons why the dandelion is the official flower of the military child. Dandelions, just like little troopers, bloom wherever the wind carries them and they grow into strong plants in any environment.

In addition to the book giveaway, we have lots more planned:

Dandelion Day

On the 4th April, we’ll be holding the first ever Dandelion Day. On the day we’re asking everyone in our community to wear something yellow to show their support for our little troopers.

Tidworth 10k and family fun run

Sign up for our Little Troopers 10K and Family Fun Run in Tidworth in Wiltshire on Sunday 13th April 2025. The day will kick-start with a closed-road 10K race followed by a 1K family fun run for children of all ages. There will also be lots of family-friendly activities for little troopers to get involved in, as well as food, drink and entertainment. You can find out more and book your place here.

Online workshops

We have two fun workshops running this month. On the 5th April there will be a hands-on Science workshop, creating Lava Lamps and Rainbow Eruptions. At the end of the month on the 26th April we have a fun Bake-a-long workshop. To find out more about the workshops click here.

Details of all of our Month of the Military Child activities, including our schools resources can be found here. Louise adds, “We can’t wait to see how you celebrate!”
