A group of little troopers and families joined us in Portland on Friday for our last Reconnection Weekend of 2025. The weekends are part of our All Together program, which brings together little troopers to share their experience of living in a military family.
The weekend in Portland kicked off with a beautiful sunset on the beach and drinking hot chocolate. Over the next two days families got to try out coasteering, canoeing, rafting and stand-up paddleboarding. There was also a spot of survival techniques; learning coastal bushcraft and cooking fish on the fire.
Louise, founder of our charity said, “What an incredible weekend of coastal adventures with families from across all three services. It was great to see everyone having a wonderful time reconnecting as a family unit. Everyone threw themselves into trying new activities together and making new friends along the way.”
This weekend was the last of our Reconnection weekends that were introduced at the beginning of this year. Louise, adds, “These weekends are all about creating space for families to enjoy special moments before and after big transitions, it’s been amazing to see this initiative come to life.”
Julie who came to the weekend with her family, said, “We had the best time meeting some amazing families. Thank you all so much! It was amazing to see our children come out of their shells and stand a little taller.”
While our weekends have come to an end for this year, we still have lots of All Together activities planned. We have a whole program of fun online workshops ahead. Take a look here.
Our Reconnection weekend was made possible by funding from Check Point.
