The Little Troopers Blog

Half Term Fun!

Lots of our military children are on half term, so we wanted to help you organise some Half Term Fun! We have everything from Ghosts to dinosaurs, Little Troopers news and resources to help you catch up as a family.

Louise, founder of our charity comments, “Keeping the children occupied over school holidays can be hard for any parent, but is especially challenging if one of the parents is away on training or deployment.” Our Crafty Little Troopers are perfect for keeping your little troopers busy. To celebrate the end of the week we have a brilliant Dinosaur workshop that they can join online.”

Crafty Little Troopers

On our Crafty Little Troopers page, you will find over 50 activities, there’s something for everyone. There are activities for the whole family or quiet projects that the children can do on their own. For Halloween you could make some Halloween bunting or chocolate ghosts to celebrate the spooky holiday. If you wanted to get super prepared there are several Christmas Crafts too.

Dinosaur workshop

On the 2nd November at 10am we have a Virtual Dinosaur Workshop. The workshop is part of our All Together online programme for little troopers up to the age of ten. The host of the workshop comes from the dinosaur museum in Hull, Yorkshire. Your little ones will be able to see genuine and replica dinosaur fossils from their collection. The collection includes replica teeth and claws, dinosaur footprints and even a real dinosaur egg. One of the highlights is a full-size replica Allosaurus skull (sharp, scary teeth!). Little troopers will also get to ask any questions about the artefacts, dinosaurs in general or the museum.

Little Troopers Gazette

Another option to help keep your family busy is to order a copy of our Little Troopers Gazette. The latest edition of our unique newspaper is packed full or news, fun facts and a delicious Chocolate cake recipe.

A chance to catch up

The October school break can often be the first chance that families get to relax after a summer move. If your children have moved schools or home or missing their Mum or Dad, you could use our X-ray of Feelings to check in with how they are feeling. Alternatively, if anyone needs a boost you can print of our Affirmation cards and have fun leaving them round the house to lift moral.

All of the resources to help organise your half term fun can be found on our website in the At Home section.
