DEVON SCIENCE
Kids love to learn and how better than with hands-on and interesting activities using easily accessible items. Delivered by the resident scientist, you will know that your child will get the correct scientific information during the sessions.
Activity Kit needed
Lava Lamps
o Glass jar, drinking glass or plastic bottle – must be see-through
o Oil (any kind – veg, sunflower, cooking, baby oil)
o Water
o Food colouring (any colour)
o Glitter (optional)
o 3-4 effervescent tablets that fizz in water (e.g. vitamin C tablets – any brand but check label says “effervescent” or “fizzy”)
Rainbow Eruptions
o Red, yellow & blue food liquid colourings
o Container of baking powder (or “bicarbonate of soda” or “sodium bicarbonate”).
o Bottle of vinegar – clear vinegar is best
o Wash-up liquid
o Small bowl
o Tray to work on/protect table
o Tea towels/cloths for spills
Rainbow Bubble Snakes
o Clean sock – new or old – it doesn’t matter as it won’t get destroyed!
o Plastic bottle – small
o Scissors to cut bottom of bottle off
o Food colourings (above)
o Wash up liquid
o Water
o Bowl
