Do your little troopers want to Go Ape. We have teamed up with Go Ape to host a free treetop adventure for 90 military children on Tuesday 27th August. The event will take place in six locations across the country.
The special day is part of the charity’s All Together programme*, which brings military children together from all three services. The aim is to let them spend time with each other and feel recognised and celebrated for being ‘little troopers’.
Little Troopers making new friends
Louise, founder of our charity says: “We’re really excited to be teaming up with Go Ape again. I love the fact that we can give 90 military children a really fun day out during the summer holidays. These events help them to make memories with other little troopers they won’t have met before.
“Our All Together programme has been so popular and the feedback from families is that spending time with other little troopers has such a positive impact on their children. We expect this event to be really popular so families are encouraged to register as soon as they can.”
Locations
The Go Ape treetop adventure is open to children aged 7-12 years at the following locations:
- Itchen Valley, Southampton
- Alice Holt, Hampshire
- Hylands Country Park, Chelmsford, Essex
- Wendover Woods, Buckinghamshire
- Cannock Chase, Staffordshire
- Temple Newsam, Yorkshire
On arrival, the children will get to know each other during a Gorilla Games ice-breaker. They will then take to the trees to complete the famous high-wire adventure course. The course navigates through tree-crossings, high ropes, wobbly bridges and zip wires. All 90 military children will be in the trees on the same day, at exactly the same time, in different parts of the UK.
Izzy Niblett (15) who attended the last Little Troopers All Together adventure day, explains: “It was very fun to be outdoors and engage in an adventurous activity with other children whose parents are deployed. I really enjoyed it.”
The day is fully-funded by Little Troopers. Parents are asked to provide their own transport to the site and pay for parking. Children who have parents deployed over the summer holidays will take priority on registering.
