Little Troopers Clubs are supporting over 3,000 children
Just six months after the launch, our Little Troopers Clubs are supporting over 3,000 children. 84 schools have already signed up, received their free pack and started the club for military children in their setting.
All schools can now access free resources to establish their own Little Troopers Club. To make it super easy, there are 17 one-hour session plans online, with more to come. You can also order a physical club pack and download digital materials.
Louise, our charity founder said, “We set up the Little Trooper clubs because every aspect of their daily lives changes when Military children move home and school. Their home is different, they have to make new friends and get to know new teachers. We wanted to provide them with a familiar space at school that helps them feel grounded. We believe that through our clubs we can ensure that every move still feels like belonging.”
Anna Broughton, Year 3 teacher at King Charles C of E Primary School in Falmouth, who helped with the launch of our Little Troopers clubs, said, “The children absolutely love coming together each week. We’ve seen their confidence grow, they’ve formed strong friendships, and are proud to be Little Troopers. Teachers have noticed that the clubs are having a positive effect on the children’s engagement and attainment in class. Parents have also told us how much it means knowing their children have a space where they can feel seen.”
Our Little Troopers clubs programme has been funded by The Grocers Charity, BFBS Big Salute, Tesco Stronger Starts & The Army Benevolent Fund.
Our Little Troopers clubs initiative is part of our Little Troopers at School programme. Over the last eight years we have built up a wide selection of resources for use at Primary and Secondary schools. We have worked with education professionals to produce materials that teachers can download, print off or stream. We want to save them time and share our experience of the support that little troopers need.
