Get Cakey leads the way in Fundraise February

As we approach the end of the month, we’re delighted that Get Cakey leads the way in Fundraise February. It’s been so great to see lots of our supporters organising bake sales to raise funds for our work.

Louise, founder of our charity said, “Every February we focus on fundraising to help raise fund for our work during the year. Get Cakey was an initiative we introduced a few years ago and it is lovely to see the momentum build. We were delighted when some of our celebrity friends shared their recipes last year. We are so grateful to all our fundraisers; their support really makes a difference.”

Highlights of the month
  • Kay Jones has been baking all month to raise money for us.
  • Hannah spent a week single-handedly baking 150 cakes and set up a stall outside RAF Halton. She raised £300!
  • Cottesmore School celebrated the last day of term and Valentine’s Day with a Get Cakey bake sale. Money is still be counted but they have raised around £200.
  • St Pauls School have decided to see the month of February out with their Get Cakey event tomorrow.
  • All Saints Primary School in Thirsk organised a ‘dress up like your hero’ and raised £256!

Hannah comments: “Our family has found Little Troopers so helpful over the years, especially when my husband has been away for long periods of time. My older daughter also attended the charity’s All Together event during the summer holidays and we used the Little Troopers Letters packs to help her keep in touch with her best friend when we had to move home.

“I wanted to give something back and I also love baking, so running a cake sale was perfect! A huge thank you to the school and all the parents and local people in the community for your support. I was worried I’d made too many cakes but they were snapped up in no time.”

Making a Fundraise Pledge

If you didn’t get the chance to support us through February you can still make a fundraising pledge:

You could sign up for our Tidworth 10k or Family fun run on Sunday 13th April 2025. The day will kick-start with a closed-road 10K race followed by a 1K family fun run for children of all ages. There will also be lots of family-friendly activities for little troopers to get involved in, as well as food, drink and entertainment led by Richard Wyeth.

Alternatively, you can join us for our annual Mountain climb. This year we’re returning to Mount Snowdon on the 6th September 2025. You can find out more about the event and sign up to join us here.
