Primary School Pack is refreshed for 2024

We’re so excited to announce that our Primary School Pack is refreshed for 2024. The pack can help schools across the country support service children in the classroom.

Louise, founder of our charity comments: “In the last few years, we’ve seen a real increase in the number of education settings using our resources. Seven years ago, we launched our first resource pack. It has been great to see so many schools wanting to proactively support their military families. This updated resource pack is about equipping schools with tools they need to take that discussion from paper to practice.”

What’s in the Primary School Resource pack?

Part of the Little Trooper at School programme, the pack is full of lesson plans and activity ideas. There are also display board materials to help teachers get service children talking about their unique experiences.

Suitable for KS1 and KS2, the pack has been created with teachers, play therapists, behavioural therapists and educational psychologists. Each activity is linked to the national curriculum to support service children through learning. The pack also includes useful information for schools about:

  • Service Pupil Premium
  • The practicalities of military life
  • The emotional cycles of separation
  • How to support highly mobile children
  • How to set-up a regular club for service children.

All of the resources come on a USB so schools can re-print and re-use.

Example activities include: Military Maths, Deployment Poetry and My Timeline. There is also Navy Ship role play, Military Moves, Making Friends, Military Lingo Bingo and Dandelion craft activities.

The revised Resource Pack can be used alongside our free interactive workshops for primary schools. These are available to stream at any time from our website.

Louise, adds “There’s no time like the present to start supporting your military children. This pack gives teachers tangible resources they can deploy in the classroom today. It doesn’t matter if you’ve only got one or two service children or your whole class has a forces connection, you’ll find ideas to engage your service children. Our pack will help give them a voice and you an opportunity to learn more about their military lives.”
