New books on Little Troopers Treasures

We have an extra Christmas present – three new books have been uploaded to the Little Troopers Treasures app. The app, which was launched five years ago, means that no military parent needs to miss out on story-time.

During deployment, Little Troopers Treasures can instantly transport them into the room at the click of a button. Since 2017 over 10,000 stories have been read on Little Troopers Treasures.

HarperCollins Children’s Books has been working with us to provide some of the country’s most beloved books for the app. Thanks to their help, we’re so excited to add the following books to our library:

  • When I’m a Mummy Like You by David O’Connell and Francesca Gambatesa – A joyous and heart-warming story of family love and playing together.
  • Mabel and Me: Best of Friends by Mark Sperring and Sarah Warburton – A rollicking read-aloud that tells the story of an odd couple on their very first adventure.
  • Mini Rabbit Not Lost by John Bond – A beautifully illustrated story that explores that childhood sense of adventure that we all remember.
What is Little Troopers Treasures?

Little Troopers Treasures is a free, easy to use app that can make story time precious every day. Serving parents can choose a book for their child and record a video reading it. When the videos are watched back the pages turn like magic.  Little Troopers Treasures can ensure children never miss a bedtime story from their parents again.

The app also offers parents and children the option to store video messages in a special ‘memory box’ area. There are also a range of resources on our website to support families when they are apart from each other. You will find iweekly planners, separation diaries, time difference sheets and a memory box label template.

Louise, founder of the charity said: “Little Troopers Treasures is one of our most well-loved and well-used initiatives. It’s a magical way for parents to stay connected to their children when separated by deployment, military exercises or courses. We’re really thankful to Harper Collins for the new titles. It is wonderful that our families will have new stories to choose from. We hope the families that regularly use the app enjoy the new books and it helps more other forces families to discover Little Troopers Treasures for the first time.”

Hannah, whose husband Peter, is serving in the Royal Navy as a Submariner, said “Peter is often away for long periods of time and is unable to have any contact with family back home. Paisley and Kenny’s favourite thing to do whilst their Daddy is at sea is to listen to him read them a story with the use of the Little Troopers Treasures app.”

Where can I find out more?

You can download Little Troopers Treasures from your app store onto an i-pad or tablet device. Unfortunately, due to the format of the story videos the app cannot be used on smartphones.
