Daisy Sears
September 2016
“When I told Daisy that I was running in the Bournemouth Marathon Festival to raise money for charity, she asked if she could also run and raise money for Little Troopers. When I asked her why she wanted to help Little Troopers she said she wanted to say thank you for all that they do for service children like herself. They had gifted her and her sister Matilda, 2, with tickets to Lapland UK last winter, as well as sending them personalised birthday cards.
Daisy signed up for the junior race and set about raising as much money as she could and training so she could finish in a respectable time. On race day, she excelled all our expectations, crossing the finish line fastest girl out of 163! Afterwards, I asked her if she felt tired at all during the run and she said, “yes I did, but I just thought of the children I was raising money for and thought, I have to keep going”.
Daisy’s achievement and dedication to helping other service children has been made all the more impressive because she has had a hard year herself. Edward, her Step Daddy is currently serving with HQ 3 Div and has been away for around half the year on various exercises, meaning he has missed not just time at home together as a family, but also things such as birthdays, the start of a new school year and our trip to Lapland UK. Throughout it all Daisy has remained strong and mainly positive despite missing Edward every day that he is away.
We are so proud of Daisy, her big heart and her compassion for other people. She is a true inspiration to us and we couldn’t be prouder of her.”
Louise Fetigan from Little Troopers said “Daisy is so inspirational we had to award her Little Trooper of the month, she has shown such determination and to support lots of other Little Troopers like herself. We were so touched Daisy chose to raise money for our charity, she has already raised £325 which is fantastic, Well done and thank you”
