Kaci Cross
May 2021
Kaci Cross, whose Dad serves in the Royal Air Force, was named ‘Little Trooper of the Month’ for May after a nomination from her Mum.
She has had a difficult year where she lost her Great Nan and also had to deal with her Dad deploying twice over the last year.
Kaci’s Daddy was deployed for 4 months in July of 2020 to Cyprus this was the longest he had been away from her. He then was deployed overseas again for another 4 months. She was as able to Face-Time him luckily, but that depended on time difference and signal which wasn’t always the best.
Kaci’s Dad would try to call on bedtime so they could read a story together and she would snuggle up with her Daddy pillow and special teddy.
Kaci’s Mum told us – “She was very brave helping to go care for her Great-Nannie until her passing and would always put a smile on her face and everyone else’s there. It was incredibly hard for Kaci when it came to the day of the funeral as she was able to collect Daddy from isolation but then had to say goodbye again afterwards so he could finish his isolation period.”
Louise Fetigan, founder of Little Troopers, comments: “We know how tough deployments can be for little troopers like Kaci, especially when she has had to deal with a family bereavement during such time a difficult time. We hope she enjoys her prize and knows what a special little trooper she is”.
Kaci will receive a Little Troopers medal, certificate and special prize as part of her award. Well done Kaci, you’re a real Little Trooper!
