Little Trooper of the Month

Alfie Lawrence

February 2016

Alfie Lawrence he is 11 years old and has suffered with dyslexia and emotional difficulties his whole life. Claire, Alfies mum and his dad have been married for 13 years.

Through the years they have lived in many military locations moving frequently,  Claire felt that Alfies difficulties were often overlooked by his schools and the repeated transition didn’t help. The family have seen six operational tours of duty and with each one as much as Alfie has struggled he has been there for his younger brother Ronnie and his mum trying to act as the man of the house. It is only when his dad comes home that you see the relief on his face. Alfie is the kindest most thoughtful boy you could ever meet, unfortunately this has also seen him be bullied for most of his primary school years.

Afies dad is Pte Lawrence serving with 1 Royal Anglian Regiment and was nominated by his mum Claire.

Louise Fetigan from Little Troopers said of Alfies award “Aflie is 11 years old and has been through significant emotional upheaval over the years, we truly hope this award boosts Alfies confidence and shows him he is brave, special and we are all very proud of him for continually being strong. Well Done Alfie”

Claire Lawrence, Alfies mum said on hearing of the award “Wow is all I can say this means the absolute world to Alfie bless him he has tears in his eyes (as do I lol) thank you so so much”
